It was bound to happen: In a new development channeling a bit of Tony Stark, a bit of Dick Tracy and some James Bond for British automotive flare, Bentley released a $700 app at the Apple Store that lets drivers of its sumptuous Bentayga SUV control in-car systems from their Apple Watch.
Just click the Bentley app—which uses what the company called “bespoke Bentley digital architecture”—to control climate and entertainment systems from your wrist instead of having to reach about 18 inches to alter them on the vehicle’s controls. (True, this might be more relevant for Bentley owners who have drivers.)
The new app will also monitor real-time information such as vehicle speed, distance traveled and outside temperature, which will be readable on the wrist now, not just on the instrument panel.
And there’s what PCMag.com called “the coolest feature of all: You can turn on the car’s seat massagers right from your wrist.”
TheVerge.com called this “dial[ing] up the luxury a notch or two” from smartwatch tools that other, mere luxury brands—as compared with Bentley’s super-luxury status—are coming out with.
