Nokia parent HMD Global got things rolling at Mobile World Congress 2018 by unveiling five new smartphones, including an update on the so-called “banana phone” used by Keanu Reeves’ character Neo in The Matrix—underlining the reference by making it bright yellow. More details on the new lineup revealed at #MWC18:

The Nokia 1 4G smartphone “is as stylish as it’s dependable. Make your mark with Xpress-on covers, and enjoy an optimized Android experience, with the latest Android™ Oreo™ (Go edition). Step up to having it your way.”

Crafted from a 6000 series solid aluminum block, the Nokia 6 “helps you live life at your pace. Now with the best of Android™ and Google services.”

The Nokia 7 Plus was designed to keep up with your life and give you more, with its amazing 18:9 screen ratio and 6″ screen. Now with the best of Android™ and Google services.

The Nokia 6 and Nokia 7 Plus inspired this ad about loyalty: “When life throws you challenges, there’s always someone you can rely on. Whether it’s a friend or a phone. Share moments with those that matter.”

The Nokia 8 Sirocco with Android One — “Ordinary life deserves an extraordinary phone” — “In the cold North we’ve been taught to craft things you can depend on – in real life. And in real life, when things aren’t like in the movies, the most important thing about your smartphone is that you can depend on it. Introducing the new Nokia 8 Sirocco now with Android One. Craftsmanship for real life.”

Surf, chat, stream (and spin) on 4G LTE with the Nokia 8110 4G — the rebirth of “the banana phone” from The Matrix. “Slide open to pick up calls and slide back to end them. An iconic design. Now made better. Hang up in style. For the originals.”
