brand glossary: natural language processing (NLP)

Not to be confused with speech recognition, natural language processing NLP is the ability of a computer program to analyze and derive meaning from words arranged in the patterns of ordinary human communication (as opposed to limited sets of hard-coded commands). This capability makes it possible for digital agents to understand and respond to users and customers in a broad variety of circumstances, and for users to interact with products and services via voice or text in an intuitive, natural way.
