Check with the technical people in your office to see if they have installed a block and ask them to release emails coming from brandchannel.com. If you are experiencing this on your personal mail, check to see if you or your provider has put a filter on non-personal emails. If this doesn't work email us and we'll think of a workaround. We'll get to the bottom of this life or death problem.

  Brandcameo

What is brandcameo?
Brandcameo launched in September 2004 and tracks brand and product appearances in each week's number one film (as determined by US box office data).

Brandcameo features commentary on films and brands estimating viewer perception and evaluating the prominence of placements based on such factors as positive/negative use in a scene, integration seamlessness and placement history.

Brandcameo's database is cross-referenced and currently dates back to January 2001.

Brandcameo tracks not only brand and products that have intentionally been placed in a film (through agency arrangement or payment) but also inadvertent brand and product appearances. Brandcameo's archive cross-references all product appearance data alphabetically, by year and number of appearances for films dating back to January 2001. Brandcameo will be regularly updated as years are completed.

As both consumerism and film culture are inseparable in society, brandchannel believes this endeavor will provide a snapshot of the pop-culture zeitgeist.

Brandcameo and brandchannel are independent of any film or product placement agency sponsorship. And like brandchannel, brandcameo is a completely free online resource.

How are the movies selected for brandcameo?
Unless otherwise noted, each week's #1 film is based on weekend ticket sales in the United States. If a film is #1 for more than one week, the dates will reflect the total weeks the film held the top spot.

How are the brands recorded for brandcameo?
Brandchannel records all brand mentions and appearances deliberate or coincidental. To be noted, brands must be mentioned or be clearly identifiable by logo, brand name, or other obvious, easily distinguishable characteristic such as design, color, shape. In short, brandchannel watches each film attentively and often repetitively, but attempts to note brands as an audience would, with as little post-viewing research as possible.

Who can I contact about brandcameo?
For press inquiries, questions, comments, rants about Francis Ford Coppola's involvement in "Jeepers Creepers 2," or if you think we missed anything, please email us at
films@brandchannel.com

  Brandjunkie Awards

What are the brandjunkie awards?
Brandchannel's annual brandjunkie awards recognize the brands that have inspired and shaped our lives. Awarded brands impact our behavior, how we view the world and provoke reactions that none other can. Launched in 2008, awards will be based on the results of a survey designed to capture what you really want to know about brands. Check
here for updates.

How does a brand win a brandjunkie award?
The annual brandjunkie awards survey is designed to challenge readers to think critically about how brands shape their lives. Winning brands are recognized accordingly in specific categories, determined by popular vote cast online by our readers over the course of 14 days in February and March. There are no shortlists or nominations - any brand has the opportunity to be recognized.

Who votes in the brandjunkie award survey?
Our community of branding-fixated readers and practioners. This international array of incredibly intelligent people have their fingers on the pulse of the latest and greatest about strategy, corporate identity, naming and too many disciplines to list in this sentence. Comprising roughly of 40% agency-side professionals, 40% client-side professionals and interspersed with members of the media and academia, our readers range widely across levels from CEO to strategists, designers and attorneys.

What regions does the brandjunkie awards encompass?
The brandjunkie awards are international in scope.

When will the survey results be announced?
Set your calendar - results will be announced end of March.

Why are the brandjunkie awards special?
Well this seems so obvious to us, but here goes: brandchannel's brandjunkie awards are special because it's an opportunity to recognize brands that have indelibly shaped our world. The credibility of the award comes from our international community of readers who vote objectively based on the criteria of the survey.

How should journalists refer to the brandjunkie awards?
The brandjunkie awards should be referred to, for example, as: "brandchannel's 2008 brandjunkie awards."

Interbrand is our parent company. They are expert consultants and, apart from reading our rag each week, take no part in what we publish or who wins the award. The award is entirely based on a democratic system of voting.

This is not, we repeat not, Interbrand's brand valuation survey which is officially called Best Global Brands.

Can I interview someone at brandchannel about the brandjunkie awards?
Sure. We'll be happy to discuss the awards, how it works, winners, trends. Email us at
sbrady@brandchannel.com or call +1 212.798.7597.
