How can I get free weekly email updates?
You can register on the brandchannel home page, by clicking here or on the Register For Free Weekly Updates on the top right hand corner of every page.
Be assured, we do not allow anyone access to your email address or information. Promise.
Why am I not receiving my weekly update?
If you have never received a weekly update after signing up, it probably means that your entry didn't go through or there was a mistake in your email address as entered and therefore it got discarded as invalid. Click here to register again.
If you received updates in the past but they suddenly stopped, it is likely that you are still a subscriber. The weekly updates are sent every Monday, but they may not be reaching your account. In that case you have a block on your email program to reject "spam." If you have a block on your email, any email sent in bulk generally will get treated as spam, unless you open the block for certain senders. Check with the technical people in your office to see if they have installed a block and ask them to release emails coming from brandchannel.com. If you are experiencing this on your personal mail, check to see if you or your provider has put a filter on non-personal emails. If this doesn't work email us and we'll think of a workaround. We'll get to the bottom of this life or death problem.
Can I post comments about your articles?
Brandchannel welcomes readers' feedback on our articles and in our Brand Debate. Comments are closed one month after the article's publication. Each commenter is asked to provide us with his or her full name, job title, affiliated organization and working email address. We do not sell or redistribute your personal information and will not send email to the provided address, except in rare cases to reply to or clarify your comment. Name and affiliation (but not email address) will be posted along with the comment, unless otherwise requested (in which case the comment will appear from anonymous). Participants are expected to comply with the rules governing the comment sections. We cannot, however, control how third parties use information that commenters choose to provide in such a public forum.
We aim to foster an environment of open conversation. However, we reserve the right to delete any inappropriate comments, off-topic discussion, spam, or blatant advertising. If a reader repeatedly abuses this policy, we will delete all of their comments on brandchannel and ban his or her IP address. Posted comments do not reflect the views of brandchannel, its parent company, or its other related entities. If you have a question about this policy or comments that have been deleted, please email question@brandchannel.com.
Which is it - BrandChannel or brand channel? How should journalists refer to this site?
Neither. Brandchannel can be referred to as: brandchannel or brandchannel.com. Ignore your spellchecker-we cringe when people call us Brand Channel, BrandChannel, or BrandChannel.com.

How do I sign up for the weekly update?
You can register on the brandchannel home page, by clicking here or on the Register For Free Weekly Updates on the top right hand corner of every page.
Be assured, we do not allow anyone access to your email address or information. No kidding.
Why should I sign up for the weekly update?
You will get a short and possibly even witty reminder in your mailbox every Monday updating you on the new brandchannel content for the week. That way you will know as much as--if not more than--your colleagues each week.
Why doesn't a link in the weekly update work?
It's like expecting Monday's story to be in Friday's newspaper. We gotta move forward with or without you. Some links change a week after your update was sent. If you are looking for something specific, try our search, browse archives, or email us.
The weekly updates are sent every Monday, but they are not getting through to your account. In that case you have a block on your email program to reject "spam." If you have a block on your email, any email sent in bulk generally will get treated as spam, unless you open the block for certain senders. Check with the technical people in your office to see if they have installed a block and ask them to release this email. If you are experiencing this on your personal mail, check to see if you or your provider has put a filter on non-personal emails. If this doesn't work email us, and we'll stop everything to figure out what the problem is.
How do I search the brandchannel and the brandchannel archives?
The top right corner of every page has a find box or browse archives option. The Find will find results with the word(s) you type in and the browse archives will bring up a list of all of brandchannel's archived content. Please be aware that the browse archives option may take up to a minute on Macintosh computers (our PC-loving programmer made us add that snide remark).
The future holds a shiny new indexing system but it's taking a really long time for us to do this. If you can't find what you are looking for, just email the editor@brandchannel.com.

Readers' Choice Award
What is brandchannel's Readers' Choice Award?
It was an annual survey of our readers' choice of brands with the greatest impact from 2001 through 2006. This was an opportunity to recognize brands that had a spectacular year and made us stand up and take notice. The credibility of the award came from our readers who voted objectively based on the criteria of the survey.
This is not Interbrand's brand valuation survey which is officially called Best Global Brands. Interbrand is our parent company. They are expert consultants and, apart from reading our rag each week, take no part in what we publish or who wins the award.
Who voted for the Readers' Choice Award?
Well obviously, our readers. This international array of incredibly intelligent people comprised roughly 45% agency-side professionals, 45% client-side professionals, and interspersed are members of the media, academia and our moms. Our readers range widely across levels from CEO, CFO, and Chairmen to strategists, managers, marketers and attorneys.
What regions did the Readers' Choice Award encompass?
The Readers' Choice Award is international in scope. We have a Global category and regions are segmented by:
Europe and Africa
Latin America
Asia Pacific
US and Canada
Who was previously awarded a Readers' Choice Award?
Who was previously awarded a Readers' Choice Award?
Google won the Global award in 2006, 2005, 2002 and 2003; Apple won in 2001 and
2004. A summary of the regional winners as well as the full Global list
from 2001 to 2006 can be found at 2006 Readers' Choice Awards.
How should journalists refer to the Readers' Choice Award and brandchannnel.com?
The Readers' Choice Award should be referred to as: "brandchannel's 2006 Readers' Choice Award." (Obviously the year changes depending on where we are in history.)
Brandchannel can be referred to as: brandchannel or brandchannel.com. Ignore your spellchecker--we cringe when people call us Brand Channel, BrandChannel, or BrandChannel.com.
Interbrand is our parent company. They are expert consultants and, apart from reading our rag each week, take no part in what we publish or who wins the award. The award is entirely based on a democratic system of voting (as long as your democracy recognizes only those with an internet connection and above average intelligence).
This is not, we repeat not, Interbrand's brand valuation survey which is officially called Best Global Brands.
Can I interview someone at brandchannel about Readers' Choice Award?
Sure. We can't promise we're coherent but we'll be happy to discuss the award, how it works, the winners, the losers, and the in-betweens.

Brandcameo
What is brandcameo?
Brandcameo launched in September 2004 by brandchannel, the world's leading online resource for information on brands and branding. Brandcameo tracks brand and product appearances in each week's number one film (as determined by US box office data).
Updated weekly, Brandcameo features commentary on films and brands estimating viewer perception and evaluating the prominence of placements based on such factors as positive/negative use in a scene, integration seamlessness and placement history.
Brandcameo's database is cross-referenced and currently dates back to January 2001.
Brandcameo tracks not only brand and products that have intentionally been placed in a film (through agency arrangement or payment) but also inadvertent brand and product appearances. Brandcameo's archive cross-references all product appearance data alphabetically, by year and number of appearances for films dating back to January 2001. Brandcameo will be regularly updated as years are completed.
As both consumerism and film culture are inseparable from American society (and increasingly global society), brandchannel believes this endeavor will provide a snapshot of the pop-culture zeitgeist.
Brandcameo and brandchannel are independent of any film or product placement agency sponsorship. And like brandchannel, brandcameo is a completely free online resource.
How are the movies selected for brandcameo?
Unless otherwise noted, each week's #1 film is based on weekend ticket sales in the United States. If a film is #1 for more than one week, the dates will reflect the total weeks the film held the top spot.
How are the brands recorded for brandcameo?
Brandchannel records all brand mentions and appearances deliberate or coincidental. To be noted, brands must be mentioned or be clearly identifiable by logo, brand name, or other obvious, easily distinguishable characteristic such as design, color, shape. In short, brandchannel watches each film attentively and often repetitively, but attempts to note brands as an audience would, with as little post-viewing research as possible.
Who can I contact about brandcameo?
For press inquiries, questions, comments, rants about Francis Ford Coppola's involvement in "Jeepers Creepers 2," or if you think we missed anything, please email us at films@brandchannel.com
BRANDCAMEO is a trademark of Interbrand Group.
