Will the Olympics ruin or resurrect China's brand?

China along with India are unidentical Asian twins are the hope for 21st century where the developments are observed keenly by western countries and media.

In a country with 130 crores population, some protests and rallies are most common, which the western countries want to present in bad light. There is no relation between china's brand and olympics.

Olympics will be successful and as per the projections china is going to be economic super power by 2015 replacing US

Raghava Krishna, faculty associate, ICFAI Business School Case Development Centre - August 2, 2008
11 years in Beijing and I can testify that China has struggled with balancing the billion person economy and political challenges. But as any growing economy this will encourage a more conscious and effective force that will overcome those global uncertainties.

Through Education and gradual acceptance, China will be the positive global brand.
Francisco Rodriguez, Group Director, DROUGETT - August 4, 2008
Despite the pollution and population issues, china will actualize a successful nation brand after hosting the olympics. The country will gradually be perceived in a positive light by western nations.
Glory Uffang, Customer Care Officer, Tedjohnson security services - August 4, 2008
China still has a long road ahead of them. Although the Olympics will present them in the most positive light, their culture and mindset will either be their stumbling block or their cornerstone.
Ernie DiMalanta, President, Quest Marketing Solutions - August 4, 2008
Just as the US has suffered the loss of diplomatic credibility internationally due to the current Administration's turning its back on civil and human rights, China will be watched very carefully to see if its growing economic might is matched by putting its money where its mouth is re: these issues. True, the US economic debt to China grows daily, but as effective brands must reflect authentic core values, consumers won't want to do business with a repressive, bullying system that doesn't take care of its own.It isn't enough to be financially booming, just as it isn't enough to have military might. Remember the USSR?Having won the right to host the Olympics provides an opportunity for moral leverage: no one wants to let their own athletes down.Even so, many more people would be willing to watch/support the Olympics if the host nation wasn't busy locking down journalists, ethnic minorities, the internet, political dissent, etc. No one wants to connect with a phony, negative brand.
