Shopping bags at Disney theme parks are generally overstuffed with Mickey ears, Dumbo stuffed animals and Little Mermaid outfits. Soon, though, those bags—at least the ones at Disney World—may be packed with plenty of non-Disney merchandise.
Disney World’s Downtown Disney is getting a revamp and expansion that is scheduled to be finished in 2016 and will result in a change of name to Disney Springs and a total change of sensibility. It will feature “uniquely Disney venues coupled with high profile third parties” and will mean the end for nightclub spot Pleasure Island, Fox News reports. Instead, Disney Springs will get a makeover that will include “Spanish revival architecture amidst a retail setting with waterfront dining.”Continue reading...

Google’s Android mobile operating system is #1 on the top 20 brands favored by the LGBT community, according to the researchers at YouGov BrandIndex. Last year, Google's YouTube topped the annual LGBT ranking.
The 2012 LGBT buzz list includes four Apple-related and several other tech and social media brands, and looks quite different from last year’s ranking, with 12 new brands making the top 20: Android, iPad, Target, Samsung, Aleve, Kindle, Advil, PBS, LG, Starbucks, Comedy Central, and Skype. Disneyland and Disney World share fourth spot, reflect the parks' annual LGBT days and outreach to the gay community.
“Gay consumers number 15 million and counting, spending $743 billion annually” in the U.S., according to LGBT marketing agency Prime Access. Remember the ads that featured a victorious sports personality being asked, "Now that you've won, what are you going to do next?" And the victor would proclaim, "I'm going to Disney World!" Well, the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver may be starting a new trend. From now on, the answer might be, "I'm going to have Ben & Jerry's name an ice cream flavor after me!"
Ben & Jerry's is the eponymous ice cream company that has achieved fame for such kooky flavor names as Cherry Garcia, Chubby Hubby, and Chunky Monkey. Last December, the company introduced "Maple Blondie," named after champion snowboarder Hannah Teeter, a native of Vermont, Ben & Jerry's home state.
