TV’s infamous Dallas oil baron is now promoting solar energy.
Actor Larry Hagman is riffing on the infamous character's persona by going green in a new ad campaign for SolarWorld, a German photovoltaic module maker. The campaign, which was introduced yesterday at a solar industry trade show in San Francisco, reprises the J.R. Ewing character with the tagline "Shine, baby, shine!" (and a devilish laugh).
“In the past, it was always about the oil. The oil was flowing and so was the money. Too dirty. I quit it years ago,” he says in the TV spot, sporting his signature 10-gallon hat against a background of blackened water and an offshore oil rig. “But I’m still in the energy business.
