Panasonic earns its number 10 spot on Interbrand's Best Global Green Brands list, partnering with the government of Singapore to develop Asia’s first public-housing green community. Since the August 1 kickoff of the brand’s collaboration with Singapore’s housing board, the town has gained attention as a “living laboratory for green technology.”

The wait is over, the mystery has been solved, and the question What the #@$% is TabCo? has been answered. Apparently TabCo is actually Fusion Garage, and its highly-anticipated tablet is called Grid10. This morning, Fusion Garage CEO Chandrasekar Rathakrishnan revealed his company’s new product, their mission to differentiate, and their discontent with Apple's de facto monopoly on innovation in electronics.
Fusion Garage, founded in 2008, is known for having severed ties with TechCrunch over the CrunchPad and the failed JooJoo tablet, but now they’re back with a vengeance. They’ve developed a tablet, smartphone, and completely new operating system--all under the brand name Grid.
What makes the Grid OS different? Based on the Android, Grid OS seeks to change the user experience to a simpler, more intuitive, and more social interaction. The interface appears as a grid, and everything from web browsing to volume control has been rethought. The Grid OS will support apps from its upcoming Grid Shop as well as Android apps. Fusion Garage also stands up to another tech giant, Google, by choosing Bing as their search engine, offering a “chromeless browsing experience." Continue reading...

Today Interbrand released its Best Global Green Brands study, ranking the top 50 among the leading worldwide brands, in which Japan stands out. Out of the top 10, three wave the Japanese flag, with Toyota claiming number one.
This study showcases a very unique methodology, combining the internal (brand performance) with the external (brand perception by consumers) to measure who has the “greenest” brand — inside and out. Using Interbrand’s experience in brand valuation and Deloitte’s expertise, each brand's green performance data was organized into 82 metrics in six categories: Governance, Stakeholder Engagement, Operations, Supply Chain, Transportation and Logistics, and Products and Services.
If one looks at the country's history and current plight, Japanese brands’ green success should come as no surprise.Continue reading...

Earlier this year Esquire announced the launch of their own e-commerce site, Clad, which will sell men’s clothing and accessories. Clad, they propose, will bridge the gap between lifestyle recommendations and the customer shopping experience. Come August, this newest luxury-shopping portal will be live for style-hungry men everywhere.
The site works with JCPenney and will function so that seasonal sales and editors’ picks align with the topics in new issues of the magazine. It also boasts one-click whole outfit purchasing, advanced feature to help you find the perfect fit, and free shipping! But don’t be fooled, Esquire is not revolutionizing the way we buy clothes online. It is just the latest in a slew of editorial e-commerce partnerships.Continue reading...

It was a regular Church Social today on Twitter. Around 1:30pm EST today, Pope Benedictus XVI tweeted to the world via an iPad. The holy finger typed up the Twitter message above to promote the Vatican's just-launched news portal, news.va.

Of the over 2 billion Catholics in the world, almost 15,000 followers are following the Vatican's Twitter feed for the News.va site, which features on its homepage today a picture of the tweeting pontiff and the headline "A Historic Tweet" of Pope Benedict (as he's more commonly known in English) tapping out his first tweet.Continue reading...
