Welcome To The New Brandchannel

Posted by Peter Feld on September 16, 2009 04:21 PM

When we read in Monday's New York Times that blogs are becoming big business, we breathed a huge sigh of relief. As you may notice, brandchannel has made some significant changes to our home page, with the major new feature being this blog-like news feed that will be updated throughout each business day with a global branding perspective on the day's business news. (We hope you'll get in the habit of checking our regular morning roundup of branding news headlines.)

Brandchannel has long provided in-depth articles, columns and special features offering insight and conversation about branding. All those features remain on our site. But as the brand landscape becomes ever busier, we think it will be useful to highlight brand-relevant developments in real time. Hence our new tagline: "Always branding. Always on."

We hope the results will be enjoyable to read, and informative. Scroll down, or check out our archives -- we've been working on this for a little while -- where you can read about whether Apple owns the "app" brand, the wisdom behind Disney's takeover of Marvel Comics, the lack of wisdom behind the Washington Redskins' suits against its most diehard fans, brand fallout after Kanye West's outburst at MTV's Video Music Awards, and Klondike's weirdly intriguing frat-house nostalgia. Soon there'll be lots more.

We're looking for feedback, conversation, and tips: you can rate every post, offer your comments, and send ideas for stories you think we should feature at our new tips line:
tips@brandchannel.com. Brandchannel is edited by Jim Thompson, and staffed by writers from around the world with special areas of expertise in many different industries.

We'll be adding new features over the coming months, and hope you will like what you see -- or that you'll let us know if you don't! If you are signed up for our e-mail newsletter, you'll now receive it daily. If not, you should sign up now, we'd love to have you. You'll also be finding more updates on our Twitter, and more activity on our Facebook page. So please come along for the ride, it should be fun!

Me and my girlfriend actually enjoyed your point of view. It seems that you have really put a lot of effort into your blog and I need more of these on the web these days. I don't have a large amount to say in response, I only this minute wanted to add this comment to say tremendous work.
