personal brands

If a friend of yours started going around crediting her career to her "
supernatural" sexuality, and talking about how she was Alan Alda’s doppleganger, you might begin to question what was going on in her head. But when actress Megan Fox does it? Well, maybe it’s kind of a brilliant branding effort.
The actress doesn’t seem to garner nearly as much press for her movie roles, or even for her beauty, as she does for her offbeat statements. Whether you’ve dismissed them as bizarre rantings, or just as a tendency to say what’s on her mind, her interviews seem infinitely more memorable than most.
But despite her interviews, she doesn’t seem to act in a way that makes people think she’s all that crazy. Kanye upstaging awards shows? Crazy. Lindsay Lohan pursuing her assistant in a coke-fueled car chase? Crazy. But Megan Fox seems to pick fairly appropriate movie roles for her type, put in a solid effort and behave normally off-set – or as normally as you can expect a 23-year-old starlet to behave. It doesn’t sound like the behavior of someone who may be a borderline schizophrenic (as she claims to be in her interviews).
In fact, it sounds like the behavior of someone smart enough to know that a “crazy” hot girl will get a lot more attention than just another pin-up. And, when, a few years down the road, she switches her tone and decides to talk about how she’s settled down, she’ll be able to get still more press out of the transformation. (Just look at Angelina Jolie). And, if Megan’s goal is truly to be working in ten years time, then her current behavior may be sly as a fox.
