Mulberry bags are expensive, and Apple computers are expensive, so it shouldn't be surprising that a collaboration between the two brands wouldn't exactly be easy on your wallet. Still, for an accessory to be as expensive as its contents seems a bit steep.
To be clear: the line runs from $250 for iPod cases to $1195 for a patent laptop bag. Both companies have continually drawn a lot of flak for being too pricey. Personally, I'm getting acid reflux just thinking about the fact that a MacBook costs less than such a bag. How could that possibly be appealing to consumers?
Earlier this year, Apple approached British luxury brand Mulberry to create a nine-piece collection of their favourite bags, adapted for Apple's best sellers – the MacBook, MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPod and iPod Nano. Grazia is completely in awe of the geniusness of this project.
The dream partnership was helped by the fact that Mulberry’s creative director Emma Hill is a total Apple addict, who says she was 'thrilled that we were asked to be Apple's first luxury collaboration. Apple products are too beautiful to reside in drab bags!'
Those still interested will be able to purchase the collection on Apple's website November 1 and Mulberry's site December 1. There's a slim chance that they would go on sale, considering that high end brands rarely drop prices on limited edition lines, but one never knows.
