Redux By Givenchy Aims For The Slightly Less Wealthy Buyer

Posted by Sara Zucker on October 29, 2009 11:47 AM

"Maybe one day, yes," creative director Riccardo Tisci responded at a Givenchy trunk show at Barneys Tuesday, asked if a diffusion line was in the works.

For now, he's settling for the lower-priced capsule collection Redux by Givenchy that launched in Barneys this week. In the mind of many, there isn't much difference.

This attempt at strengthening the brand occurred after LVMH net profits for the first half of the year fell 23%. The Cut noted that “[The corporation is] slowly broadening their customer base for apparel, to include not only the very wealthy, but just the wealthy folks, too.” Well said. Prices start at around $340.

The line is based on wardrobe staple like the white shirt and leather jacket. Tisci will show Redux twice a year and it will be available in October. Shoes are set to be included in the collection.

Tisci is keeping busy with "work on an upcoming show in 2011, which I'm doing all the costumes for. I can't say much more, but the performance is a combination of music and opera, and will travel worldwide. A project like this has been my dream." I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more Givenchy on a lot more people in the very near future.
