social media

Who knew that a little site for Harvard students would become a worldwide phenomenon?
Facebook founders Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes probably had little idea that their brainchild would eventually become a global platform for connecting friends, spreading political and humanitarian causes, posting cute cat videos, and hosting time-sink applications like Farmville and Mafia Wars. But here we are.
Facebook grew into a brand that now symbolizes the fluid, competitive, and tricky world of online branding and social media. With increased connectivity comes greater access to human nature, and Facebook has had to endure the best and worst of humanity – from reuniting lost lovers to providing web-savvy predators with a new tool.
Facebook is what it is because we are who we are, and without Facebook our very fundamental need to reconnect with that girl from summer camp, rant about taxes, announce the birth of our children, or flirt with that boy – now married – from college would be more difficult to fulfill. So thanks, Facebook.
And congratulations!
