Three footwear brands are getting a kick out of Star Wars.
Collective Brands Inc., the Kansas owner of footwear chains, is introducing Star Wars-themed shoes at its Payless ShoeSource and Stride Rite stores this summer. The lines will feature Darth Vader and other characters from the George Lucas movies and cartoon series.
Payless and Stride Rite have access to Lucasfilm's archive including logos, characters, creatures and aliens from all six live-action Star Wars films, as well as Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie and TV series, which airs on the Cartoon Network.
Payless will feature the Star Wars and Star Wars: The Clone Wars in a new character line of children's footwear and accessories in Payless stores and online. The Stride Rite Children's Group will develop Star Wars and Star Wars: The Clone Wars footwear to be sold in Stride Rite retail stores and online, as well as through its wholesale partners.
Adidas has already garnered interest in its Adidas Originals Star Wars Line of sneakers and apparel. According to the Stylophane Facebook Fashion Index, Adidas is the most followed label on Facebook, topping Nike, Puma, and Lacoste. It currently has 2,353,669 fans, many of which are following news and promotional event announcements for the Spring 2010 collection, which pays homage to iconic moments and characters in the Star Wars saga.
