YouTube Shows, Tells You How To Market

Posted by Abe Sauer on April 22, 2010 11:29 AM

YouTube has taught you about the evolution of dance and zoology. Now it wants to do more by helping your brand become better marketed.

The initiative, dubbed Show & Tell, aims to identify the most creative marketing ideas and recognize marketing work demonstrating "exceptional excellence and craft."

In its own words Show & Tell is "is a new gallery-style brand channel showcasing the best marketing and advertising campaigns on YouTube."

Wait, brand channel what?

In an adorable video montage so twee is should come with chunky glasses and a sweater vest, YouTube's Show & Tell channel introduces us to "The Story of YouTube Car."

The demonstration, which you can watch above, makes the case for how advertisers and brand managers can leverage YouTube's features to promote their brands.

Otherwise, the collection (curated by the Art Directors Club) of "best creative marketing examples on YouTube" offers an interesting hodgepodge of exemplary virals, home pages, interactive videos, and (gulp) brand channels. It will probably be of at least moderate interest to anyone in branding, advertising or marketing.

How valuable this resource is to marketers in the long run remains to be seen, but as a beginner tutorial on the free (for now) YouTube tools available to marketers, it's a great start.

Naturally, when it comes to brand-building, the brand Show & Tell helps the most is .... YouTube.

A coherent voice amongst the YouTube melee sets Show & Tell apart as a YouTube brand extension with growth potential.

Ten years from now, would anyone be surprised to be competing against pitches from YouTube's Show & Tell agency?
