Entertain or educate
- which social media strategy is best?

Nice post catchy headline, but silly proposition because the answer will always be,  "it depends."  Stop looking at social media as some kind of thing that has rules.  it doesn't anymore than the norms of society has rules.  

There are plenty of unconventional approaches to living life that have become adopted over time,  why is social media different?  Oh I know why, because large corporate entities are risk averse.  They are  not human, they are comprised of humans, but companies are not human.  Before you challenge me on that one remember I've been on the other end of the phone when American Express et al, tells me they value my relationship and regardless of my payment history with them, they have decided to (pick one - Raise my interest, cut my credit, decline my card, etc... ) so please companies are not human and social media can only do so much to change that perspective.  

So back to the point.  the parameters of social media are dictated by the boldness of the company's leadership, the creativity of the content creators (employees, service providers, and those they seek to engage), and the reaction of its audience.
