brand challenges

As we suspected, Apple is addressing its iPhone 4 technical issues not with a recall, but by pushing the bumper as a solution.
CEO Steve Jobs, who acknowledged in today's press conference that the company indeed knew about the signal issue but downplayed it, is offering iPhone 4 buyers a free bumper case through Sept. 30, or a full refund on the smartphone. Application forms for the free bumper will be posted on apple.com next week, and buyers who have already purchased one of the cases will receive a store credit.
Jobs discussed the issue at corporate HQ in Cupertino, CA, which you can watch in Apple's video. We were a tad disappointed he didn't preface his remarks with Grace Jones' disco anthem, so feel free to play it above before you check out Jobs' press conference.
