Grace Jones Called It, iPhone 4 Buyers

Posted by Shirley Brady on July 16, 2010 03:00 PM

As we suspected, Apple is addressing its iPhone 4 technical issues not with a recall, but by pushing the bumper as a solution.

CEO Steve Jobs, who acknowledged in today's press conference that the company indeed knew about the signal issue but downplayed it, is offering iPhone 4 buyers a free bumper case through Sept. 30, or a full refund on the smartphone. Application forms for the free bumper will be posted on apple.com next week, and buyers who have already purchased one of the cases will receive a store credit.

Jobs discussed the issue at corporate HQ in Cupertino, CA, which you can watch in Apple's video. We were a tad disappointed he didn't preface his remarks with Grace Jones' disco anthem, so feel free to play it above before you check out Jobs' press conference.

Ha. And nice if Apple could have spent more on making sure it's new iPhone's antenna worked properly than it did on all the slick ads.
