Product Placement Open Thread: Due Date, Megamind, 127 Hours, and Sean Penn's Beverage of Choice

Welcome to Brandcameo's new weekend open thread on product placement. Heading to the movies to catch Due Date, Megamind, 127 Hours, Fair Game or any other new releases this weekend? Maybe you caught some TV. Did you notice any brands pop up within the show? If so, what did you think? Take a sneak peek at some brands to watch for on the big screen this weekend, after the jump.

It's a pretty safe bet that Fair Game, the story of the acting of a CIA agent, will post big box office numbers. But when it comes to product placement, magic always happens when Sean Penn shows up, especially his propensity for appearing with beverage brands. Some of Penn's most memorable acting partners have been liquid — below, Fair Game, The Interpreter, Mystic River, Fast Times at Ridgemont High and I am Sam:

How about Due Date? We already know Apple plays a huge role (at top). Was anyone able to identify the brand of sunglasses Robert Downey Jr. sports? Even Selectspecs seems stumped.

Will any brands appear in the highly controversial (new genre alert!) terrorism comedy Four Lions, which is in limited release? We spotted what sure looks like an iPhone scrubbed of its tell-tale Apple logo (below).

Finally, with the trend toward removing blatant product placements from childrens films, did anyone see anything in Megamind?

Of course, as always, Brandcameo will have full coverage of the number one film after the weekend's box office tally is in. But product placement is so much more than the number one film. Happy watching!
