Viral Video Watch: The Golf Boys

Posted by Michael Waltzer on June 16, 2011 05:30 PM

Oh, Oh, Oh! The Golf Boys have made a hit music video, presented by Farmers Insurance.

Trending on YouTube today (with more 600,000 views) is the new music video by the “Golf Boys.” Who? The Golf Boys are PGA Tour players Ben Crane, Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson, and Hunter Mahan, with music by Con Bro Chill.

The video premiered on Golf Channel on June 14th, during the network's Live from the U.S. Open broadcast.

Helping give it a viral boost, the video has also been featured on PGATOUR.COM, as well as its Facebook and twitter pages. The video can also be seen on Ben Crane's YouTube channel, and website.

In support of Farmers' sponsorship of the Farmers Insurance Open, for every 100,000 views Farmers will donate $1,000 to charitable proceeds that will support both Farmers and Ben Crane charitable initiatives.

The fact that Farmers is sponsoring Ben Crane's group and video shows the expanding relationship between the two. That relationship dates back to Crane' victory at last year's Farmers Insurance Open. Since then, Crane has partnered with Farmers and Farmers' parent company, Zurich Financial Services, and he also sports the Zurich or Farmers logo on his golf cap, depending on the tournament.

Some comments about the video on include:

This is not the first video of its kind, in fact, there has been an array of athlete music videos, and some deserve an honorable mention:

“You Can’t Stop the Reign” - Shaq

“I Believe I Can Fly” – R. Kelly ft. Michael Jordan

"Must Be the Money" – Deon Sanders

For the most part, Golf is a reserved sport when viewed on TV.  I loved seeing the ligther side of it.  Rock on, Golf Boys!
