Captain America Runs On Dunkin' Marketing

Posted by Abe Sauer on June 27, 2011 09:00 PM

Forget the Thor spot for Dr. Pepper. And the Green Lantern endorsement of, well, anything and everything. It's time for Dunkin' Donuts to break out its large-scale Captain America movie tie-in. You might say it's pretty cool(atta).

Instead of throwing the product onto the screen in a cavalcade of blasting quick cuts and a crescendo of hyperbole followed by a few flashes from the film itself, Dunkin' Donuts has taken a creative approach to working the brand into the concept of the film, which opens July 22nd. The result is an engaging spot in the spirit of Captain America but all Dunkin' Donuts' own.

With only about 1,500 views on the spot above so far, the YouTube comments are almost universally positive. "Advertising win right here," wrote one.

Dunkin's tie-in goes beyond patriotic donuts and a "Captain America Cherry Coolatta® drink," as the brand is also in a behind-the-scenes featurette:

On the Dunkin' website, users can play "Unlock the Lab" and receive free Marvel digital comics and a sure-hit special edition Captain America Dunkin' card.
