KLM Pitches Meet & Seat In-Flight Social Matchmaker Service

Posted by Shirley Brady on February 8, 2012 02:34 PM

KLM announced its in-flight "Meet & Seat" matchmaker service in December, a social media-enabled opt-in feature allowing passengers to find compatible seatmates (like-minded or aligned business interests) based on their Facebook and LinkedIn profiles — and hopefully make the brand's flying experience more enjoyable (or at least memorable).

The Dutch airline is pitching the social seating service, which will initially cover solo passengers between Amsterdam and New York, and San Francisco and Sao Paolo, as a way to find a sympatico fellow traveler for a coffee/drink before, scintinllating coverstaion during, and/or a shared cab ride after the flight.

What do you think? Creepy or fun? Would you give it a whirl? And is this the future of air travel? Weigh in below.
