Google today took the wraps off One Pass, its new payment system for digital content. Outgoing CEO Eric Schmidt, who unveiled the service during a speech in Germany, said the goal is to let content creators and publishers set their own pricing and terms and offer “flexibility.”

The move comes a day after a polar opposite announcement, as Apple unveiled its pricing policy for content subscriptions via iTunes — a “we get 30% cut” move that may see iTunes pullouts by Sony and Rhapsody, among others.
