American Express London Pop-Up Invites Public to ‘Power Up’

To support the launch of its new “Powerful Backing” #AmexLife global brand campaign, American Express has created an immersive experience that aims to “power up” people so that they can own the day. The pop-up in London’s Exchange Square, from June 12-14, is inviting the public to pop in—whether it’s between meetings, during a shopping jaunt or on their way home after a long day—to get recharged and ‘powered-up.’

Featuring beats by DJ Maya Jama, visitors can explore three zones, each with its own unique atmosphere: a Japanese Forest that offers the chance to take a deep breath to feel restored; dancing through a Neon Jungle that aims to reinvigorate; and a power boost in the Power-Up Zone that will help them leave feeling ready to “own the day—or night.”

In keeping with the “Powerful Backing” theme, the pop-up brings to life the concept that the more you chase personal or professional goals, the more you need someone to have your back—just as AMEX does for its cardmembers and business customers.

“We wanted to give people the chance to experience the powerful backing of American Express for themselves,” said Maya Dagan, UK brand manager at American Express. “Whether it’s being restored by escaping to a quiet place, or the kind of backing that powers you up for the day, these are things we have been helping our customers with every day for the last 168 years.”

“The more we take on the world, the more we need someone who’s got our back and this is chance for people to experience that backing first-hand,” she added.
